USIA shares experiences with University of Arizona and University of Colorado Boulder
USIA project partners under the auspice of SCiDEV and project leader the Mediterranean University of Albania organized a webinar on 15th November 2022 to share experiences on the university to business cooperation with the University of Arizona and University of Colorado Boulder as part of our efforts to expand the network of partners and learn from success stories on how to scale up the models and achieve sustainability. The webinar also served as a platform to promote the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union and its contribution to higher education in Albania and across the region. More than 50 participants joined online, including
project partners, Quadruple Helix Network, and interested stakeholders.
The webinar started with a detailed presentation of the USIA approach and progress by Nevila Xhindi, USIA project leader. She highlighted the key achievements of USIA in the past two years to enhance the Quadruple Helix network and model of cooperation
between academia and society by strengthening Knowledge Transfer Units at five universities in Albania.
USIA partners and Quadruple Helix Network heard from our guests across the Atlantic how university to business cooperation models in the #USA. Marta Zgagacz, from the University of Colorado Boulder, explained how the commercialization of research happens at the University of Colorado and how to overcome the “valley of death” between research on one side and businesses on the other. Paul Valdez, Forge Arizona, detailed how to engage students in the university to business cooperation model and explained the model of Student Venture Pathways at the University of Arizona.
Key highlights on entrepreneurial mindset, mentoring, and upskilling of students. Anita Bell, Center for Innovation of the University of Arizona, provided an analysis of the university’s ecosystem to business cooperation model and growth trajectories.
