In Albania, universities face considerable challenges in terms of quality of research, transfer of knowledge, collaboration with external stakeholders, and generation of innovation with impact. Although, part of important EU schemes, universities in the country still struggle to effectuate meaningful collaboration with other actors in society and in generating added value in developmental process.
Among many challenges, from January 15, 2021, the Mediterranean Center – Mediterranean University of Albania in the leading role and 11 other partners from Albania, Serbia, Italy, Germany are implementing the project “University to Society Innomediaries in Albania: Co-production of knowledge and research that matters/ U-SIA”. The project is funded by the Erasmus + Program of the European Union.
In the framework of this project and in respect and memory of the former rector of MUA, on April 22, 2022, MUA inaugurated the new multimedia center “Gudar Beqiraj”, an investment of the Erasmus + Program of the European Union.
In his speech, the president of MUA, Prof. Dr. Anastas Angjeli emphasized: “I am confident that from such projects, universities in Albania will improve and develop capacities to co-produce knowledge and research. Additionally, I believe that these projects will enable a more effective and sustainable cooperation between Albanian universities and public institutions, business, civil society, and media in the Quadruple Helix Model.
