In the framework of the project #USIA, (“University to Society Innomediaries in Albania: Co-Production of
knowledge and research that matters”), Mediterranean University of Albania (MUA) held a bilateral meeting
with Aleksander Moisiu University (UAMD), Professional College of Tirana (KPT), European University of
Tirana (UET), The University of Shkodra “Luigj Gurakuqi” (ULGSH), Chamber of Commerce and Industry of
Tirana (CCIT) and Center Science and Innovation for Development (SCIDEV). The focus of the meeting was
WP5- Piloted University to Business Cooperation through “Second a Researcher” Programme and WP6-
Piloting University to Policy Cooperation through Policy Lab.
The responsible partners for WP5 are CCIT and KPT. In the framework of WP5, a roundtable with the business
sector will be run. Call for expression of interests for SMEs & researchers for the programme will be open.
After the completion of the period of “Second a Researcher” at a SME or other business organization, a report
with key results, lessons learnt and future challenges and areas of collaboration will be prepared and
disseminated. Joint activities will be facilitated by CCIT in order to promote the scheme and scale it up to other
universities / businesses.
In the framework of WP6, for which MUA is responsible, the following actions will be conducted:
Roundtable with the QH network and policy sector: Collaboration with policy: Increasing demand for quality
research output by policy organized
Policy proposals by students as part of Policy Innovation Lab
Pilot cases finalized and presented as part of Policy Challenge Fund for Senior Research and PhD students
Report with the results of research and policy collaboration: recommendations for future–published and
available online on the platform.
This will be implemented by USIA, they will exert their functions through this pilot programme.
Two sub-programmes:
5 Policy Labs where students work on project-based learning and solve 5 policy issues
5 Policy Challenge Fund whereby 5 researchers are selected by 5 public institutions to co-produce policy
solutions.
At the end of the meeting, it was emphasized that in order to fulfil the aims, it is required the participation and
collaboration of all national partners.
